The Calgary Fiddlers Association

Since the formation of The Bow Valley Fiddlers in 1995, this highly skilled group of amateur musicians, ranging from 7 to 18 years of age, has entertained thousands of people in and around the Calgary area. The Bow Valley Fiddlers are a division of The Calgary Fiddlers Association. This young group of fiddlers was first put together to act as a feeder group for the world-renowned Calgary Fiddlers. Over the past 26 years it has grown into an educational program with 3-4 different groups.

The Calgary Fiddlers are a musically gifted group of young people who love to perform and who appeal to audiences of all ages. This exciting ensemble, ages 14-18 yr, plays a wide range of music from traditional folk fiddling to country, bluegrass, Celtic, and even big band. Each fiddler has a rigorous training schedule that includes private and group coaching sessions on a weekly basis, in addition to performing at over 100 functions in and around the Calgary area. In the past year, they have had the experience of recording in a studio, making a music video, LINK HERE, and participating in the Fiddle Youth Summit in Vancouver. This group will be traveling to Spain this summer to perform at an International Festival. After two years of shifting rehearsals and coaching sessions from in-person to virtual numerous times, the Calgary Fiddlers are excited to perform to a live audience!

We are proud to honor a Bow Valley alumni member, Holly Flegal, by continuing the Holly Flegal Memorial Fund. Funds raised in this campaign are used to support youth in the Calgary Fiddlers Association who are interested in developing extracurricular skills used in our performances such as singing, tin flute, banjo, and percussion.
