CFA Mission

Through the art of Canadian fiddle music, we motivate, educate, and inspire children to develop musically and socially.

Since the formation of The Bow Valley Fiddlers in 1995, this highly skilled group of amateur musicians, ranging from 7 to 18 years of age, has entertained thousands of people in and around the Calgary area. The Bow Valley Fiddlers are a division of The Calgary Fiddlers Association. This young group of fiddlers was first put together to act as a feeder group for the world-renowned Calgary Fiddlers. Over the past 27 years it has grown into an educational program focusing on using music to develop youth. We are proud to continue to bring toe tappin' joy to the Seniors in our community with our 'Celebrate Canada' program.

The Calgary Fiddlers are a musically gifted group of young people who love to perform and who appeal to audiences of all ages around the world. This exciting ensemble bursts on to stage to deliver high energy performances of a wide range of music from traditional folk fiddling to country, bluegrass, Celtic and even big band. Each fiddler has a rigorous training schedule that includes private and group coaching sessions on a weekly basis, in addition to performing at over 100 functions in and around Calgary and touring both locally and internationally. Past notable appearances include the opening of the “Live with Kelly” show in Banff, AB, and a featured spot on the Australian TODAY show, filmed at Lake Louise. In 2022 The Calgary Fiddlers were invited to play at the UNESCO City of Art and Music Festival in Liria Spain. The group had a tremendous reception by the Spanish public and have been invited to return. Additionally, we are proud to continue to bring toe tappin' joy to the Seniors in our community - performing at over 60 senior facilities each year with our 'Celebrate Canada' program.

Fiddler Auditions

The Bow Valley Fiddlers are looking for your young violinist to join our program! With summer just around the corner, it's the perfect time to explore new opportunities for your young violinist’s musical journey. We are in the process of setting up new fiddler auditions for our program and need your help, our fiddle family, to help spread the word about the Bow Valley Fiddler Program. We believe that your networks, including private teachers, parents, and friends with young musicians, could be a fantastic resource in finding talented violinists who might be a perfect fit for our fiddle program. Your assistance in letting all the young violinists in Calgary and the surrounding area know about our auditions would be immensely appreciated. Whether through word of mouth, social media, or other means, your support can help us reach those who could benefit most from fiddling with us!

Fiddle Registration Opens Monday June 24
